The star has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the UK's independent music venues.

The star was presented with the award on 16 October as his third album the album was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

Fender has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the vital role local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I played around the region, and beyond, when I was starting out," stated Sam Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports smaller concert halls.

Fender also took part, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist numerous local spots across Britain.

The donation assisted venues that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted financial assistance in improving amenities and gear that positively impacted performers and fans.

"The concept that money from shows in major spaces helps the smaller venues, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

He is not the first artist to give his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

When the band received the award in 1996 for their record the album, vocalist Cocker stated that the act would donate their prize money to the charity the charity.

During 2002, musician she divided her bounty between a few organizations, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I donated a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

Previously, they gave their funds to the community center that nurtured their group, as well as other independent music bodies.

And 1994 winners M People gave their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"Winning was ample," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The money was the bonus but we could do without the extra, because we had the cake. So our victory touched somebody else's life."

Recently, the MVT shared it had protected a couple of local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The Joiners in the city and the other in the city were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who acquire "stakes" in the venues.
